2027: Road transport workers stand with President Tinubu, Kebbi Governor Idris

The National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW), has formally endorsed the candidature of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State for a second term in office.

The National Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr. Najeem Usman Yasin made the declaration at the gathering of the Union in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

The NURTW also presented an award of appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for onward submission to President Tinubu in appreciation of his roads infrastructure development in the country, especially the Sokoto – Badagry Super Highway traversing Kebbi, and the Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway, while the governor received a trophy for similar feat.

“We, drivers, are the most benefitting commuters of good road network which is an ongoing legacy of Tinubu and Idris. The NURTW is also grateful to Gov. Idris for building a modern Motor Park in Birnin Kebbi for the comfort and security of drivers and passengers.

“Come 2027, members of the NURTW will double their votes for President Tinubu and Governor Idris for 2nd tenure”, Yasin remarked.

NURTW Kebbi State Chairman, Garba ‘Yar Mallam, acknowledged the action by Governor Idris to create the Ministry of Transport and Renewable Energy to develop the transport subsector of the economy.

In response, Gov. Idris thanked the NURTW for its consistent and sustained support to the administration, pledging to deliver the appreciation award to President Tinubu hand to hand.

“Modalities are being put in place by my administration to provide adequate financial support to the NURTW to empower its individual members purchase vehicles for commercial transportation to enhance their wellbeing for economic prosperity.

“Also, Kebbi Executive Council has approved the procurement of 50 buses which have already been acquired to ease public transportation”, the governor announced.
