27-year man arrested for impersonating police officer in Adamawa

A 27-year old man has been arrested by Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly impersonating as police officer and extorting of the public in the state.
The suspect, who gave his name as Shafiu Abdulkari of Anguwan Yelwa of Yola North Local Government Area of the state was allegedly found to be extorting members of the public since September 26, 2024.
Absukakari was found extorting from tricyclists along Aliyu Mustapha Flyover and around Jimeta Modern Market.
Abdulkadir arrest was from a tip regarding his activities by some vigilantes who saw him going around threatening and extorting Keke riders.
The state police Command spokesman said upon his arrest, the suspect was found in a police camouflage trouser, a black tee shirt with the inscription “Special Force,” and boots.
