A 3-month-old baby on Monday along with her mother narrowly escaped death in a motor accident in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The baby and mother fell out of a shuttle bus when the bus somersaulted into a ditch at a sharp corner, which resulted to the trapping of the mother with her child.
The accident occurred around 11.25 am on Tuesday and involved a shuttle bus with four passengers on board in which the driver and passengers sustained various degrees of injury.
An eye witness who identified himself as Christ Nwora said the driver of the shuttle bus was negotiating a sharp bend on high speed when he suddenly lost control and the vehicle somersaulted into a ditch by the roadside.
“I was going to Awka before 12noon this morning to transact a business when a shuttle bus right in front of our bus somersaulted at the sharp bend in Nawfia and fell into a ditch.
“No life was lost but various degrees of injuries were sustained by most of the passengers including the driver.
“A particular lady was bleeding profusely from her forehead; and another lady too was injured with blood rushing out from her body.
“But our miracle-working God held the bus from crushing a baby of about 3 months to death, who was with her mother in the bus,” he said.
