Anambra environment ministry, others plant trees at Onosi Onira Zik’s Roundabout Onitsha

Anambra State Ministry of Environment in collaboration with Fresh and
Better Life Africa Foundation and Naturecracy Environment Club
has planted trees at Onosi Onira Zik´s Roundabout, Onitsha, to
mark World Environment Day.
Speaking on the need to sustain tree planting in Anambra State, the
Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment, Dr. Emeka Okafor said
tree planting is important not just for their economic values but also to create
balance in the ecosystem.
He disclosed that the State government is actively supporting the Ministry to produce nurseries for tree planting in all the senatorial zones for people to collect and plant in their areas.
On her part, the Deputy Director Environment and Ecology in the
Ministry, Mrs. Ngozi Antagwu said the theme for this year’s World
Environment Day is “One House One Tree for Healthier Living” urging
people to make it their watch word.
She advised citizens to protect the trees which produce oxygen for Human survival.
In his remark, the President Naturecracy Environment Club, Prince Chinedu Nsofor said the theme One House One Tree was kicked off by the Commissioner for Environment, noting that mass social enlightenment is necessary in creating awareness for tree
planting by the people.
Prince Chinedu, encouraged citizens to take good care of their environment for healthier living.
Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka and Dr. Nwabueze took turns to enlighten the
people on the importance of tree planting, advising them to be conscious of their environment.
