Bauchi distributes 1000 Keke NAPEP

Bauchi State Government has flagged off the distribution of first batch of 1000 tricycle known as Keke NAPEP in the state as part of youth empowerment program.

The state governor senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed while flagging off the distribution, said the program tagged 2020 Kaura economic empowerment is to cushion the effect of Okada known as Achaba ban in the state.

Three hundred and forty tricycles were given out in the first batch while the remaining 660 will be distributed before the end of the year.

Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed said the scheme would provide an income generating project and reduce Transportation problems as well as ameliorate the difficulties caused by the absence of Achaba in the state.

To reciprocate the gesture, the governor disclosed that two hundred and fifty million naira has been set aside to purchase commercial motor vehicles to assist in boosting small and medium enterprises.

On Other wealth creation and economic empowerment plan, government has paid another two hundred and fifty million naira as counter part funds to access five hundred thousand naira to provide cluster loan to traders and artisans from the Bank of Industry.

He used the medium to state that the ban on Achaba was not done to make life difficult for the people neither it’s a total ban and that Okada will resume in some parts of the state when certified Covid-19 free.

Earlier, the commissioner for co-operative, small and medium enterprises development, Usman Mohammed Sale commended the governor for coming up with the gesture towards ameliorating the suffering of youths in the state.

He said the beneficiaries were drawn from the union of Keke NAPEP and Achaba Union.

Umar Sale disclosed that the tricycle was given as loan at 7540.000 payable within twenty four months with a daily repayment of 1000 only.
