62 communities benefit from 171 micro-project intervention funds in southern Taraba as Governor Kefas assures of development

Taraba State Government has assured the people of the state of its administration’s plans to bring development closer to grassroots through projects that have direct bearing to the masses.

The State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas gave the assurance while inaugurating 171 micro projects in southern zone of the state.

He said his administration targets bringing government policies and programs closer to the grassroots and task intending beneficial communities to ensure cooperation.

Governor Kefas who was represented by Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Peter George disclosed that the project which in partnership with the World Bank is expected to execute 171 micro projects across the 62 communities in the six local government areas that made-up southern Taraba.

According to the governor, the projects are part of the Nigeria Covid-19 action recovery and economic stimulus program (NG-CARES) and will be implemented by Taraba State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

In realization to achieve the noble goal, the governor added “members of the community project management committees across 62 communities in the six local government areas that comprises southern Taraba converged in Wukari Local Government Area to witness the project launch by the Taraba State Community and Social Development Agency.

“This signals the disbursement of funds to 62 communities by the Taraba State Government in partnership with the World Bank for the implementation of 171 Micro-Project in the water, Health, Education and Environment sectors,” he said.

The General Manager of CSDA, Mr. Sakunga Galumje said the agency has a record of development interventions in rural areas and assured members of the community of its readiness to build on the recorded success of achievements on the implementation of the launched project.

Galumje further disclosed that more community development projects are expected to be launched by the NG-CARES program in northern and central district zones of the state.
