8 corps members receive awards of merit in Anambra

Eight corps members of 2019 Batch A, who served in Anambra State, have received an award of merit for their commitment and selfless services in the State.
Governor Willie Obiano presented the awards at the passing out parade of 2019 Batch A corps members at Paul University field, Awka.
The State award winners include Boniface Akpan, Christian Isiani and Innocent Obi-Okpara, among others who were awarded Chairman’s honours award.
Governor Willie Obiano who was represented by the Head of Service, Barrister Harry Udo inspected the quarter guard on arrival and commended the winners for their commitment and dedication, charging them to always strive for the best wherever they are.
Governor Obiano also urged the corps members to utilize the skills acquired during the service year to attain self reliance as there are no more white collar jobs in the country.
In his address, the NYSC Anambra State Coordinator, Mr. Kehide Aremu thanked Governor Obiano for empowering the youths and making the welfare of corps members a top priority through the numerous initiatives and provisions, assured the scheme will continue to align their programs to the development of the State .
Mr. Aremu also thanked the corps members for the effective roles played during the service year, urging them to remain good ambassadors and shining examples for others to emulate.
Speaking to our correspondent, one of the awardees, Mr. Boniface Akpan expressed joy over the completion of his service year and the award received and advised his colleagues to brace up and work hard to make Nigeria a better place
Personnel from the Nigeria Police Command and Nigeria Immigration Service graced the occasion.
Quick and slow match past as well as three hearty cheers for Governor Willie Obiano added glamour to the exercise.
