97,000 youth to benefit from NDE, RBDAs, Seed Council Renewed Hope Employment Initiative – Agara
The Director General of National Directorate of Employment, (NDE), Silas Agara, has disclosed that 97,000 Nigerian would be trained on food and livestock farming program.
He made the disclosure when he received the delegation of management of River Basin Development Authorities, (RBDA) in his office in Abuja
According to him, “NDE with the team of the 12 River Basin Development Authorities, and National Seed Council, (NSC), have plan to train youth on farming and livestock production under the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI) of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to have self employed youth for increase food production.
“The RBDA would do the land and clearing, provide Tractors, fertilizers, amongst other things. While the NSC would provide the improved seeds for the trainees, respectively,” he said.
Agara commends the Director General of Budget Office for supporting the initiative of the President under the supervision of the NDE.
The DG of NDE who is the former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State calls on potential beneficiaries to be committed in the training for they to benefit from the loan towards becoming food and livestock producers.
In his response, the Managing Director of Sokoto River Basin Development Authority and Chairman of the MDs of RBDA, Alhaji Abubakar Malam said, they are happy to be part of the initiative of the President towards utilizing the River Basins to train youth and feed the nation with abundant food produced locally.
In his remarks, MD of Upper Benue River Basin Authority, Dr Sanusi Mahmud said, the RBDA have the land and expertise to contribute positively toward the success of the program.
