President-elect Tinubu urged to appoint those with his governance philosophy

Honourees across the country who have made distinguished contributions towards the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President of Nigeria at the February 25, 2023 presidential elections have urged the President-elect to appoint those that can key into his philosophy of governance.

They also appealed to the President-elect to consider highly the youths in his appointments.

They spoke at an award ceremony on Monday night in Abuja organized by the Tinubu/Shettima Associates and Professionals (TAP-IT) Project 2023. TAP-IT is a coalition several Tinubu and support groups and civil society organisations.

In his remarks, a former Minister of State (Petroleum), Alhaji Umaru Dembo, who is the chairman of the occasion, and an award recipient, recalled when President Muhammadu Buhari was first elected in 2015, upon inauguration, some of them who worked hard towards his emergence were sent packing by those who didn’t contribute.

According to him, governments would come to be, but there are no proper plans for those who would be in government noting that it took President Buhari six months to appoint ministers during his reelection in 2019.

He praised those especially the award recipients for bringing about the election of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu hoping it would bring positive change to the country.

In his speech, the former Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Mahmoud Aliyu Shinkafi noted Asiwaju Tinubu would surely go through the support groups to derive dividends of democracy having used them to win election.

He expressed confidence that Asiwaju Tinubu would do what Nigerians expected him to do after his inauguration to improve the country.

A former Secretary to the Niger State Government, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, said the time has come for the younger generation to take over the future of the country.

He pointed out that while in the past, very young persons even as young as 27 years were at the head of governance in Nigeria, but the present generation have many odds against them.

Professor Yahaya noted that Asiwaju Tinubu has done what many leaders have failed to do when they had the opportunity, that is, planting little icons that grew to take over in many places.

According to him, because of planting little icons, that is why despite all odds, Asiwaju Tinubu was able all other candidates to emerge as president.

Alongside Alhaji Dembo, others hounoured at the occasion were Mr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim, an international businessman and an APC presidential aspirant, the Director-General, Tinubu Campaign Organisation and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, a former Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, Comrade Aminu Aminu, Barrister Obioma Success and Engineer Yusuf Husseini.

Others were Alhaji Aminu Suleiman, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu, Mr. James Faleke, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, a former Secretary to The Government of Niger State, Professor Toaheed Adedoja, Alaja Folashade Bola Tinubu, the Iyaloja of Lagos, Hon. Akin Awodeji and Alhaji Sani Turaki.

Some are Hajiya Amina Muhammad Hassan Kila, Aminu Suleiman, Abdullahi Haruna Maikarfi, Engineer Abubakar Atiku Tambuwal, former Managing Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The Director-General of TAP-IT, Comrade Abdulmajeed Sa’ad, said it will be unwise not to immediately recognize these individuals who have sacrificed immensely to see that the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Tinubu was victorious at the polls.

Comrade Sa’ad pointed out that these individuals among others are also poised towards reposition the Tinubu administration by hitting the ground running after its inauguration on May 29, 2023.
