The International Labour Fellowship, (ILF), an arm of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, has listed 150 Nigerians for training as artisans, bakers, welders, and other skills.
This was disclosed in Calabar by the international chairman of the group, Archbishop Emmanuel M. Akpan when they flagged off the celebration and training sessions.
The group had said at the end of their weeklong celebration which is to mark their 29th anniversary, they will also empower good number of youths as a way of reducing unemployment and enabling them to be economically independent.
“We are staging skills acquisition and vocational training programmes.
“We are hoping that more than 150 Nigerians and other Africans will benefit substantially from the trainings which will hold in Calabar during the week.
“We are also going to hold a public seminar as part of our one week celebration where many will be empowered.”
The clergyman charged workers in all government department and private concerns to work with the fear of God, positing that they will account to Him alone.
He also decried laziness, indolence and poor attitude noticed at many workplaces, noting that such can never add value or bolster national economy.
Akpan expressed happiness that their weeklong celebration usually falls within the week of Workers’ Day celebration.
