Senator representing Cross River southern senatorial district, Gershom Bassey has cautioned Senator Bassey Otu,  the governor-elect, not to allow what happened to his predecessor,  Prof Ben Ayade to be his lot.

He has advised him not to surround himself with sycophants, low quality and self seeking persons in his government.

He gave the advice weekend during an interview with journalists in Calabar.

“Going into governance is serious business and I would advise the Governor-elect Prince Bassey Otu to surround himself with quality people who will not be sycophants but would give him quality advice,  help him in governance and deliver on various sub-mandates.”

Gershom said Otu is coming in at a time where the state does not have a lot of money.

He advised him to ensure that he finds a way to increase revenues in the state.

“If he can do that, he would have solved a lot of problems. I think he is going to do well because he had the temperament and capacity to do well and I wish him all the best.”

According  to Gershom, the Cross River governor-elect is an excellent choice for governor, especially being one from the Southern district.

He expressed happiness that ‘The Back To South’ campaign which the entire state rooted for has become a big success.
