Veteran journalist tasks Taraba Credentials Committee on transparency in coming NUJ elections

As the campaigns for the election of new officials of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Taraba State Council gathers momentum a veteran journalist, Alhaji Yusuf Salihu Sansani has tasked the members of the Credentials Committee for the election to discharge their duties with high sense of transparency, fairness and credibility devoid of preferential treatment.
Alhaji Sansani gave the charge at Taraba State Press Centre in Jalingo shortly after fulfilling all the conditions and obtaining indication of Interest and nomination forms on behalf of some candidates who are vying for different positions of the union.
Sansani who spoke on behalf of the Campaign team of Mr. Mathew Eliud Jen, an aspirant for the chairmanship position in the election, stated that the campaign team has full confidence and respect in the calibre of people that constituted the Credentials Committee and was expecting nothing but a transparent election.
He called on members of the Union to vote wisely and vote for Jen and his team who are all credible and experienced Journalists emphasizing that the team are saleables and real candidates to beat that would never let the Union down if elected.
“I want to commend the chairman and members of Credential Committee for the forth coming election of our great Union in Taraba State your commitment and dedication towards discharging your assigned responsibility is commendable I want to urge you to continue in the way of transparency and fairness to enable us have a free, fair and credible election”, Sansani restated.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Credentials Committee, Mr Emmanuel Ukwen, a former Chairman of the NUJ Taraba State Council assured candidates and members of the Union that the Committee would never derail from any of the set guidelines but would work transparently to ensure that it delivers its mandate effectively.
“The Electoral Committee was made of people who places so much value in their integrity and would not descend so low to compromise to anything that would ruin the peaceful coexistence of members of the Union after the elections”. Mr. Ukwen said.
He advised all contestants to avoid campaign of calumny, bitterness and defamation of character but to always consider each other as members of a family in order to sustain the spirit of Unionism that brought members together in the Union.
Mr. Jen who obtained Indication of Interest and Nomination Form for the Chairmanship position, was accompanied by throng of supporters and other candidates who also obtained forms for various positions.
Some of the candidates on the entourage who also obtained their forms were Irakunyang Tapu of the Taraba Television (TTV), Jethro Yerga of World View Magazine and Victoria Roland Andekin also of the TTV as Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Auditor respectively.
