A former BBC correspondent, Alhaji Mato Adamu has died in Gombe on Friday, according to multiple social media sources.
He was said to have died after a brief illness.
Alhaji Mato reported for the Hausa Service of the BBC from Maiduguri, Borno State, but covered most of northeastern Nigeria.
He also worked in the London office of the BBC.
Apex News Exclusive learnt that Mato, who hailed from Yobe State had been in Gombe State as a media consultant for the state government.
According a social media source, the burial prayers for the late veteran journalist would be held today, 12, August, 2023, at the Gombe Specialist hospital by 11am.
