Obiano commends Anambra Assembly for overcoming crisis

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has commended the members of the Anambra State House of Assembly for the mature and wise way they handled the minor misunderstanding that arose in the House on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.
Speaking from Paris where he is on official tour with President Buhari, Governor Obiano commended the Speaker of the House, Hon Barrister (Mrs.) Rita Maduagwu, the principal officers and other members of the House for rising to the acid test of true democracy and peacefully resolving the mild misunderstanding that erupted among them saying that the matter would have degenerated to something unpleasant if handled by a less competent crop of leaders.
The Governor expressed confidence in the ability of Anambra lawmakers to always resolve their differences in the truest tradition of representative democracy and forge stronger ties that would accelerate the development of the state.
He also expressed contentment with the assurances by the Speaker and the Principal Officers of the House that whatever grey areas that might be still lingering in the House would be amicably resolved in the next few days.
Speaking further, Governor Obiano assured that Anambra remains Nigeria’s most peaceful and safe state and that his administration would continue to work assiduously to ensure that the state maintains that status.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Rita Maduagwu says the State legislature is committed to enacting quality laws that will fast-track the overall development of the State.
She gave the assurance while presiding over the Tuesday’s plenary in Awka. Welcoming members of the House back from recess, the Speaker commended the lawmakers who used the recess to embark on constituency projects in their various constituencies as testimonies abound from their various constituents.
She applauded the zeal with which various committees of the House carried out their oversight responsibilities at Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies to enhance good governance.
The State number One Lawmaker who expressed the resolve of the House to continue to work harmoniously with the Executive Arm of Government for the collective good of the citizens announced that the House under her leadership which has been adjudged the most peaceful among the comity of legislatures will continue to work in unity.
