FG, Taraba applaud college management for relocation to permanent site 35 years after

The federal and Taraba state governments have applauded the decision of management of Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Jalingo for relocating to its permanent site after 35 years.
The college operated on a temporary site since it was established.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Andrew David Adejo made the remarks during the commissioning of the new administrative block and multi-purpose hall complex of the college at its permanent site, Jalingo.
He said the Principal Dr. Mrs. Adaramola Mercy Olubunmi and her team deserve commendation for ensuring a successful relocation of the college from its temporary site, thus making the dream of the ministry comes into reality.
The Permanent Secretary represented by Mr. Osinaike Kehinde noted that the unwavering commitment of the college in collaboration with federal ministry of education has continued to yield progress through enhancing a conducive environment for learning, growth and holistic development of the students.
He revealed that the ministry through the World Bank has secured loan for Innovative Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) pointing out that college was among one of the beneficiaries which he said geared towards the entrenchment of technical and vocational education to enable students acquires skills for self-reliance and national development.
Adejo urged the students to take advantage of the facilities and embrace the opportunities provided by the multi-purpose hall to explore in all related trade and appreciated Taraba state government for collaboration.
In her remarks, Director, Technology and Science Education in the ministry, Mrs. Grace Jakko described the relocation of the college to its permanent site as a welcome development, noted that education being the bed rock upon which nations build their future, science and technology form the corner stone of progress and innovation.
Jakko, represented at the occasion by Dr. (Mrs) Uhuegbu Stella of the department also applauded the federal ministry education for relentlessly supported the growth of unity colleges/ science technical colleges for a prosperous and technological advance nation.
Meanwhile, the Director/Principal of the college, Dr. (Mrs). Adaramola Mercy Olubunmi, described the college 35 years learning on a temporary site as devastating.
According to her, several attempts have made by her predecessors in the past to change the ugly narrative of the college environment but to no avail and expressed gratitude to God, the federal ministry of education, Taraba state Government and parents teachers association (PTA) and host others for actualized the dream of the college.
She also revealed that the actualization of the projects currently being commissioned were abandoned 15 years ago before the recommencement on August 2021 by ministry.
Dr. Olubunmi appealed to government of all levels, organizations and spirited individuals to come to the aid of the college particularly on major challenges such as erosion menace, security, access road and project facilities among others.
