Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State

Kidnapping is on the increase in Taraba State as perpetrators are having a field day in Jalingo, Gassol, Bali, Gashaka, Karim Lamido and Ardo Kola Ardo Kola Local Goverments of the State.
In Jalingo the State capital the Kidnapers abducted from one to six victims daily while in Ardo Kola Local Govermment many villages were deserted as a result of bandtry.
Recently in Jalingo six persons were kidnapped one night at mile six including the wife of a senior Police Officer and daughter whlie another of his daughter was killed and in Ardo Kola Local Govermment Seven people were kidnapped each in Vendu Ginnaji and Wuro Adamu in broad day light, and people who ran for their dear lives from the abductors trooped to Sunkani the Headquarters of the Local Govermment.
Other villages affected in the Local Government include Madaya, Kursha, Danbaki, Jauro Bature, Jauro Damdi, Makonvo and Bana as well as the people of Vendu Nangeh and kwando who are equally fled for fear of attacks.
Majority of the displaced persons were women and Childrens who fled to Sunkani to escape the bandits and are taking refuge with relatives and traditional leaders of the Community.
Baring his mind, Kuru Sunkani Suleman Bello descibed the situation as very disturbing and pathetic and appealed to the State Government and sprited individuals to come to the aids of the affected persons who are in dare need of food and shelter saying that there are over one hundred displaced persons in his house and the food available will not exceed one day.
While the Ward head of Tudun Wada Fidelis Francis said he sheltered about two hundred women and children calling on Govermment at all levels to assist.
In a telephone audio a victim who was abducted in his residence in Jalingo was heard begging his family to pay any ransom to the Kidnapoers to secure his freedom while one of his abductors was raining abuses on the family of the victim and from all indications the victim is being tortured.
As if that was not enough recently twenty persons gwere abducted in bandaguri village near Garba Chede of Bali Local Govermment during which the bandits forced Soldiers and Vigilante to withdraw in a clash where one Soldier was wounded and another missing.
Although the bandits are now said to be on the run following renewed vigour by the Soldiers and hunters under the command of a strong hunter Babangida from Belango village in Karim Lamido Local Govermment who specializes in capturing terrories, there are still pockets of kidnapping going on in Taraba State.
Majority of the people of Taraba State who expressed their minds on the surge of kidnappings challenged all the security oufits in the State for not performing their statutory functions of safegurding the lives and property of the citizens and urged the State Governor to be proactive ratther than just mare rethorics pointing out that action speaks lauder than voice.
Governor of Taraba State Dr Agbu Kefas who in his vigorous efforts to tackle insecurity has been visiting all the security Agencies for a collective and collaborative efforts to deal with the situation and vowed to solved all the security challenges facing the State.
