COMAFAS trains 150 youths on fishery technology in Bauchi

COMAFAS, a community agricultural based organization, owned and managed by Nigerians is established with mandate to mobilize women, youths and all intending and practicing farmers, who have little or no farming ideas of becoming self-sufficient in agriculture business, through supportive and secured platform called COMAFAS Directorate of corporative.

Founder, Dr Austine Maduka has called on the stakeholders across the country to support youths empowerment through various initiatives on agriculture, such as fisheries, processing and preservation of perishable items and other essential agricultural products in Nigeria.

The Founder/ National president the organization, assures the trainees of their total support to farmers across Nigeria with the aims of supporting all forms of agricultural development across Nigeria.

He said, that recently, the organization secured a grant from ECOWAS for over $7000US Dollars to support farming technology throughout the Nigeria society.

In his keynote address, the National project coordinator, COMAFAS Mr Abdul Yusuf, commended the founder of the project on farming technology for the overall interest of local farmers in Nigeria, so as to meet up with the current food insufficiency and fight against poverty and hunger in Nigeria.

The Deputy National president of the organization, equally urged the beneficiaries to utilize this lofty initiatives for the best interests of improving their income and added more values to the National Domestic products(GDP)

The representative of the state commissioner women affairs, Hajiya Hajjara Gidado, who was ably represented by Hajiya Fatima Abdullahi, Director Women Affairs, Child Development and Social Development, said one of the cardinal principles of the ministry is empowerment, advancement of women affairs and protection of the child rights across the state, also ensure improved food production and fight hunger across Bauchi state.

The representatives of the commissioner women affairs, commended the organization for the laudable initiatives and this projects will provide windows for self-sufficient, sustainability and economic growth in Nigeria.

She however, urged state ministries of agriculture, women affairs, commerce and industry in the state to collaborate with government efforts of governor Bala Mohammad in making the state free from hunger, poverty and unemployment. She further urged the organization to be gender sensitive in all their undertakings.

The occasion was graced by important dignitaries from state college of agriculture, NGOs for economic development initiatives among others.
