Gombe Police arrest scores for various alleged criminal offences, recover arms

Gombe State Police Command has arrested suspected criminals for various offenses including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, rape, theft, defamation of character, assault and trial by ordeal. 

According to the Command PPRO, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar while addressing Journalists at the Command Headquarters in Gombe on Thursday, on the 23/09/2023 at about 1325hrs, one Adamu Hassan of Wawa Zange Fulani setlement, Dukku LGA, made a formal complaint to the Police. 

That on the same date at about 100hrs, one Adamu Bakoro of Dukgal Village was accompanied by four suspects who followed the footsteps of thieves that stole his bullcow and recovered the bull cow in the possession of one Madugu Abdullahi and arrested him. 

While on their way to the District Head Palace, the suspects matcheted the said victim with cutlasses in different parts of his body which resulted to the victim sustaining various degree of injuries to his body. 

 On receipt of the complaint, Police Detectives attached to Dukku Division swung into action, moved to the scene and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, Dukku where he was confirmed dead by a Medical Doctor 

The Suspects  arrested in connection with the crime are: Muhammad Wanzam, Adamu Dangogo,  Danbaba Abdullahi, Bage Wanzam, Mohammed Sa’idu, aged 40 and Ahmadu Bakoro aged 40. All males of Dukgal villaged via Dukku LGA.

Also, for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, defamation of character, assault and trial by ordeal, the Command arrested Dotti Ahmadu, aged 30, Saleh Umaru aged 25 and Jajere Ahmadu, aged 22. 

On the 25/09/2023 at about 1130hrs, a formal complaint by one Alhaji Ardo of Jajere village via Jillahi ward, Funakaye LGA revealed that, on 24/09/2023  at about 1430hrs, the above mentioned suspects criminally conspired among themselves and defamed his character by calling his wife and two sons; namely Aisha Muhammad  aged 55, Goje Alhaji Ardo, aged 30 and Ahmadu Alhaji Ardo, aged 25 all of the same address as witches who caused a strange illness  to one Maryam Umaru, aged 20, Aisha Jajere and Hadiza Ahmadu aged 20, all of the same address.

Hence, on the 25/09/2023 at about 0930hrs, the persons mentioned above went to a native doctor, one, Adamu Baba who applied some substance on a fire and conseqently implicated the family of the complainant for causing the sickness. 

The aggrieved suspects then conspired, armed themselves with matches and sticks and inflicted bodily injuries on Ahmadu Ardo and Goje Ardo, as a result of which Goje was fatally injured. 

On receipt of the complaint, operatives were drafted to the scene and rushed the victims to General Hospital, Bajoga for medical attention where Goje Ardo was certified dead by a medical Doctor. 

Furthermore, Ali Ibrahim, aged 30, Babaji Haruna  aged 18 and Naziru Mohammed, aged 22 all of Kwadon village via Yamaltu deba LGA were arrested for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. 

On the 28/09/2023 at about 0930hrs information was received through surveillance personnel that on the same date at about 0920hrs, an unknown person was seen lying down unconciously. 

On receipt of the information,  personnel were detailed to the scene, snapped the photograph of the victim and rushed him to Specialist Hospital Gombe where he was confirmed dead by a medical Doctor. 

Further investigations led to the arrest of the above mentioned suspects in connection to the crime who have confessed to the crime.

The Command also arrested, Musa Saleh ‘AKA’ Musa lélẹ̀, 19 years, Usaini Abdullahi alias Abban fading, 18 years and Safiyanu Saidu alias  Biji 18 years for alleged offence of criminal conspiracy, theft and causing grievous hurt. 

On the 29/09/2023 at about 0800hrs, one Buhari Abdullahi of Malam Kuri quarters went to operation Hattara and reported that on the 11/09/2023 at about 2200hrs, while he was at his provision shop, some miscreant suspected to be Kalare boys numbering about 10, armed with dangerous weapons, trespassed into the shop and robbed him. 

The items robbed off him included, one vivo android phone valued at: N50,000. Two keypad phones valued: at 500,000.00k and thereafter inflicted serious injuries on one of his customers while he took to his heels.

On receipt of the complaint, operatives attached to Operation Hattara were detailed to respond where they swung into action and arrested the suspects with the Exhibits recovered including 2 cutlasses.

For suspected Kalare activities and being in possession of dangerous weapons, the Police arrested, Aliyu Ali, 33 years, Nasiru Abdullahi, 22 years, Yunusa Mohammed 28 years and Salisu Abduurrahman, 21 years. 

On the 2nd of October, 2023 at about 1800hrs, along Barunde quarters, while on routine patrol, a team of operation Hattara arrested the above-mentioned suspects and recovered 1 cutlass, 2 knives, and some assorted charms, both suspects confessed to being the ones terrorizing the axis.

On 27/09/2023 at about 1830hrs, one Binta Abdullahi laid a formal complaint at Kaltungo Divisional l headquarters that on the same date at about 0800hrs, one Baban Yariman, aged 41 of Kaltungo, took her 5 year old niece to his room and had carnal knowledge of her. 

The case is under investigation and will soon be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.

Mahid Abubakar further disclosed that, on 29/9/2023 at about 1500hrs at Wuro Kesa qtrs, the following suspects: Babangida Muhammed, 29 years, Fatima Muhammed 22 years, Maryam Muhammed 23 years, Magaji Muhammed M 39yrs, Umar Muhammed M 52yrs, Muhammed Muhammed, 52 years and Maryam Usman, 75 years were arrested for criminal conspiracy, obscene/indecent act, defamation of character, criminal force, causing grieviou hurt and trial by ordeal. 

They were alleged to have criminally conspired and accused one Aishatu Adamu of witchcraft, stripped her naked and compelled her to cross one Fatsuma Muhammed who was ill.

The Commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim used the medium to appeal to all peace-loving citizens of the State to continue to partner and cooperate with the Command by furnishing it with credible information about the activities of the men of the underworld and criminally minded Individuals or groups.
