Residents of Bauchi State have been urged not to panic at the sight of aeroplane that is hovering around the entire state as it is on national assignment.
The call was made by Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, under the Mineral Sector Support for Economic Diversification (MinDiver) Project, a World Bank Assisted Project under the Ministry.
A statement by Ishaku Kigbu, Media/Communication Officer, Mineral Sector Support for Economic Diversification Project (MinDiver): Ministry of Solid Minerals Development Abuja, made available to Journalists in Bauchi on Sunday contained that the Ministry is still embarking on an Airborne Geophysical Survey activity to determine accurate Mineral locations and geological information and data to enhance the diversification of the economy.
This is to help achieve the Renewed Hope agenda of the present administration in ensuring that accurate geological information and data are available to attract investors and investment into the solid minerals sector.
He explained that the activity which is being supported by the Mineral Sector Support for Economic Diversification Project (MinDiver) is carried out by an international Consultant called Excalibur and involves the use of yellow coloured small aircrafts fitted with aeromagnetic lenses to carry out aeromagnetic surveys in selected states of the Federation including Bauchi State.
Having carried out full sensitisation in the State earlier, the Ministry wish to re -emphasise that the activity is still ongoing hence the State will experience the flying of these special aircrafts at very low altitude in a repeated pattern to capture magnetic anomalies.
In Bauchi State, the exercise will cover Alkaleri, Bauchi, Bogoro, Dass, Kirfi, Tafawa Balewa and Toro LGAs.
The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, therefore wish to inform the state and LGAs affected not to panic or entertain fears as the activity is safe.
This has become very necessary given the security situation in the country and to ensure that the people are not misinformed or dis-informed.
The public may recall that the Airborne Geophysical Mapping Survey started in June 2021, and a robust sensitisation and enlightenment campaign was carried out in the 19 States that were to be covered by the activity.
The program experienced overlaps due to weather conditions and logistical reasons but has been progressing well since it started.
The sensitisation exercise is to further re-sensitise the people of Bauchi not to panic upon sighting the aircraft, noting that the reassurance is necessary given the current security situation in the country.
