Governor Yahaya condemns gruesome murder of 58-year old woman in Gombe, sends high-powered delegation to funeral

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has  strongly condemned the gruesome murder of Aishatu Abdullahi, a 58-year-old mother of 8 in Jekadafari ward of Gombe metropolis. 

The Governor described the incident as a mindles act saying that it was an act man inhumanity to man which must be condemned in every ramifications.  

Inuwa Yahaya then directed the Police and other relevant security agencies in the state to mobilise all investigative assets and ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous act are brought to justice.

He vowed that Gombe State, under his watch holds a steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all its citizens. 

According to him, “We have a zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities, and this incident only strengthens our resolve to uphold the peace and security that our state is known for”.

He added that, “I want to make it abundantly clear that there will be no escape from justice for those responsible for this vile and vicious act.”

He also said that, Our security agencies are directed to leave no stone unturned to track down the culprits to account for their heinous action.”

The Governor conveyed the deepest condolences of the government and people of Gombe State to the bereaved family.  

Inuwa Yahaya stressed that, “The details of this incident, as preliminarily reported by the Police, are nothing short of horrifying as a dark stain.” 

“Our hearts bleed for the bereaved family, who are grappling with an unimaginable loss, and for the Jekadafari community as well as the entire citizens, who are now scarred by the traumatic aftermath of this tragic event,” The Governor also said. 

The Governor called on the people of the state to remain calm vigilant in the face of any threat to “our collective security,” vowing that Gombe State will not waver in its commitment to preserving the peace and tranquility that it holds so dear as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, ( Press Affairs)

Meanwhile, the Governor sent a high powered government delegation led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi to attend the funeral prayers of late Aishatu Abdullahi. 

Other members of the delegation included the State Head of Civil Service, Alh Ahmad Kasimu Abdullahi, a chieftain of the APC in Gombe, Alh Abubakar Buba Sharif, Commissioners and other top government functionaries. 

The delegation also attended the burial held at the Gombe Muslim cemetery.
