The management of Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA) and State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (BASPHCDA) have expressed determination for interagency synergy to promote effective and efficient healthcare service delivery.

The expression was made when management of BASHCMA paid an advocacy visit to BASPHCDA centring  on strengthening collaboration and building a resilient organizations for improved healthcare services.

The advocacy was held on Tuesday as the Executive Secretary of BASHCMA, Dr Mansur Mustapha Dada explained that the visit was informed on the need to re-establish purposeful institutions that drive effectiveness in the administration and coordination of health activities especially, between the two agencies so as to ensure health strengthening.

Dada also told the management of BASPHCDA that there is the need to utilize the technical brains that the two agencies have to bring robust changes and ensure remodeling of PHC services.

He stressed that, BASHCMA is extending hands of partnership to accommodate 11 technical staff from the PHC Agency where they will be part of the quarterly supportive supervision as such move could bring impact on the scale of services.

According to him, BASHCMA’s key mandate is to mobilize and manage resources through the health Contributory scheme thereby making it useful through the three existing designed interventions that is – formal, informal and the vulnerable programs with a view of achieving universal health coverage.

The BASHCMA ES disclosed that a lot has been achieved in the informal and vulnerable programs, while in terms of demand creation and coordination, the Agency had carried out resource mobilization and enrollment, quality assurance checks while monitoring and evaluation is institutionalized,  advocacy and social mobilization is being a continuous process.

According to him, one key challenge is non-commencement of the formal sector component that was since approved, now waiting to start deductions.

He then solicited the support of all stakeholders to try as much as possible to advocate for the take up of formal sector component as it will provide better opportunity to public servants and pensioners, organized private sector as well as students of tertiary institutions as these will guarantee easy and affordable access to a subsidized health services.

While appreciating Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed for his numerous supports to the state health sector, Dr Dada acknowledged government’s countless efforts in the area of infrastructures which he says a great landmark to the administration.

In his response, Executive Chairman, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, appreciated the foresight of BASHCMA management, thinking out of the box that led to the initiation of such kind of advocacy seeking collaboration from various stakeholders which he said will address the underlying bottlenecks and chart a new course for health income.

He also stated that, there is no doubt that strengthening partnership is crucial for result oriented organization, as no man is an island in terms of universality of knowledge but rather building synergy to aid effectiveness in the management of government institutions.

Mohammed then promised to continue to work with Government agencies and partners, in a manner that would promote and provide decent atmosphere for evidence based health activities and transformation in Bauchi State.
