Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas has lamented lack of a Master Plan for Jalingo, the state capital and other towns in the state.

Governor Kefas who disclosed this while receiving the report of the committee set up to stream line ministries, Boards and Parastatals, said lack of a master plan has made proper planning and projection of Government policies and programmes very difficult.

He lamented that many things in the state are not in the right perspectives saying that he inherited lots of challenges when he came to office.

The Governor promised to impliment the proposal of the Committee and urged his team to work assidously to actualize his dream of positively changing the fortune of Taraba State.

Governor Kefas promised to constitute a White Paper Committee to summarize the report of the Committee for easy implimentation.

Presenting the report, Chairman of the Committee Obadiah Ando described their assignment as a daunting task noting that the report contained details of how the MDAs should be streamlined to avoid over lapping of functions and expensive repetitions of duties and commended members of the committee that included seasoned state and federal civil servants.

Ando noted that some of the ministries need to be unbundled to reduce their work loads adding that the office of the Head of Service should not be responsible for paying salaries stressing that salary payments should be the work of the Office of the Accountant General and expressed the need for more refresher courses for top level staff.
