Out of School Children: Devt partners train critical stakeholders on schools mentorship,monitoring system in Jigawa.

European Union (EU),United Nations Children Emergency Funds (UNICEF) in collaboration with Jigawa state government has began training of critical stakeholders from 10 local government areas on mentorship and monitoring of formal and informal schools across the state

Speaking to journalists UNICEF focal point officer at the JIgawa state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hajiya Umma Abdulkadir noted that project is funded by the Eupean Union (EU) through UNICEF is to train 520 members School Base Management Committees (SBMCs), Community Base Management Committees (CBMCs), head teachers and officials of educational management agencies from 10 local government areas in Jigawa state.

Meanwhile,the UNICEF focal point officer said “the 520 participants were members of where drown from School Base Management Committees (SBMCs) and Community Base Management Committees (CBMCs), desk officers and agency for mass education officials whom were also to go back to their respective areas across the selected 10 local government areas to train others which is train the trainer programs,she noted

Hajiya Umma further explained that the training is divided in to two “our target after these five days training the these 520 participants were to go back to their respective areas to train another 3820 others techniques and strategies using the newly Revised National Operational Manual as well as the Guidelines for Mentorship and Monitoring Systems”.

She equally pointed out that”the aim is to reminds and develop the skills of the engaged communities base committees their expected roles and responsibilities especially on the issues of attendance, retention, completion etc in the formal and non formal schools such as Islamiyya, Tsangaya and ensure the children started, proceeds and complete their education”.

“This is the wish and target plans my EU and UNICEF and to have wider coverage on the children of JIgawa state”.

She stated further that “to this regard another training is ongoing at Manpower Development Institute here in Dutse on Learners Unit Record Information and Tracking System (LURITS).

She further noted that Learners Unit Record Information and Tracking System (LURITS) is a masters training it also aim at to track the learners records of enrollment, attendance, performance and completion through attendance register through the head teacher to achieve the control of our of school children.

“Also under the programme 50 participants is attending this masters training whom were to train 1000 when back to their respective areas”.

The UNICEF focal point officer mentioned that if the mission of controlling out of school children and quality education would be achieved, “if there is good teachers that can deliver well, when there Communities involvement effectively working at the end of the day we would have a better learners to achieve learners standard the said set standards and target plans through the proper used of effective methodology of teachings,guides and skills effectively through out the entire community and Jigawa state in general, she concluded.
