The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Anambra State chapter, has called the political class in the state to stop forthwith any campaign for 2025 governorship race.
The CLO claims such campaign amounts to distraction for the incumbent Governor to provide the state with good governance.
The chairman of the human and pro-democracy group, Comrade Vincent Ezekweme, said in an interview with newsmen in Onitsha that it was too early in the day to begin campaign for 2025 Governorship for race in the State that will still hold sometime late ,20225.
He advised the politicians of the various political parties in the State that commencing campaign now is ” both unwise and misplacement of priority”.
Comrade Ezekweme called on the state political gladiators behind the overheating of the state polity to call their overzealous supporters order, saying that they should “shun character assassination, casting unsubstantiated aspersions on perceived political enemies as well as pull him down syndrome”.
He called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his supporters as well as other politicians in the State to focus on addressing the problem of insecurity bedeveling the state, infrastructural decay and providing democracy dividend to the citizens.
The CLO boss asked Governor Soludo to immediately implement the recommendations of EndSARs Panel Report chaired by Hon. Justice Veronica Ngozi Umeh to assuage the sufferings and agonies of the victims and their families.
He also said the outstanding honorarium for the chairman and members of the panel should be equally paid immediately.
” We also call for forensic investigation into the discovery of more than 300 missing persons in Anambra State by Truth, Justice, and Peace Commission, headed by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu” said the rights group.
