The Provost of the Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Dr Aku Ayuba Ambi, has called on the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani to address the challenges plaguing the institution.
The issues include the crumbling infrastructure, dilapidated classrooms, unpaid DTA to the staff and a staggering debt since last February.
Ambi stated this while speaking with newsmen in Gidan Waya as part of activities to mark his first 100 days in office.
The Provost also unveiled that all arrangements have been concluded for the smooth take-off of a new campus of the institution at Hunkuyi in Kudan Local Government Area.
He said the process of opening a new campus for the college at Hunkuyi is ongoing and by next they will sending a deputy provost there that will oversee the campus.
According to him, a second campus became necessary to meet the admission needs of candidates across the state.
He listed some of his achievements in his 100 days to include completion of four science laboratories for degree students, renovation of the college board room and construction of the road leading into the school from the main gate.

He lauded the state government for allowing the institution to reopen it’s consultancy services to enable it generate revenue and fulfil some of its financial obligations.
“The consultancy services was closed down by the immediate past administration.
“But when I came on board i pleaded with the government to allow us reopen it and they graciously granted our plea.
“This business venture in the form of consultancy services is necessary as it will enable the institution not to be solely dependent on funding by the state government,” he added
The provost decried the security and funding challenges in the school but restated the present government’s resolve to quickly address them.
“There is also the challenge of funding. It will interest you to note that we have not received any monthly subvention since last February.
“However, the present government led by Uba Sani have assured us that they are working assiduously to address these challenges.
“So, we are hopeful that we are all going to smile in the nearest future,” he added
He solicited the support and cooperation of members of staff and students to deliver on his mandate and reposition the institution for excellence.
