The spiritual leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star,  His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu has commended the National Assembly and President Bola Tinubu for the reversal to the country’s first National Anthem used soon after her national independence in 1960.

In a statement signed by the spokesman of the spiritual organisation, Dr Amah Williams, the renowned spiritual leader said, “By this action, the time has come for Nigeria to manifest her full potentials and receive divine blessings from God.

“This anthem holds great spiritual significance; hence, it is our hope that as we chant these worthy aspirations in all our official gatherings, the letters and spirit of this anthem will fill our hearts and find expression in our national life.”

Williams in the statement said the return to the first anthem is to the glory of God

He said the lyrics better express the will of God for Nigeria and the supplication of Nigerians to the Almighty God.

The organization recalled that the spiritual leader, in His address to a large audience of guests and faithful in September, 2019 and in several other fora had proclaimed that for Nigeria to find meaning in her journey to nationhood and receive the blessings of God, she should revert to the old National anthem which calls for all Nigerians to stand in Brotherhood irrespective of differences in tribe and tongue.

The organization advised against worrying that the composer of the anthem was not a Nigerian but, Nigerians should be more concerned about the lyrics of the anthem, which they said is a solemn prayer to God and a commitment by all citizens to live together in brotherhood.

They described the reversal as a historic move, assuring Nigerians of the divine blessings of the Almighty Father.

The statement added, “As we have gone back to the first anthem, let us all commit ourselves to its lyrics, for now is the time to build a nation where no man is oppressed that Nigeria may be blessed with peace and plenty.”
