Private car owners in Bauchi State who cover the number plates of their vehicles have been warned to desist from such criminal act or face the full wrath of the law.

The warning was given by the Special Marshal unit of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) during its monthly meeting of June 2024 held at the Base of the State Sector Command on Saturday.

The unit reminded those indulged in the act that covering of number plates of the cars is a violation of the traffick laws and regulations of the country.

The unit further observed with dismay the way and manner such car owners particularly political office holders and aides of political office holders violate traffic rules as if they are above the law of the country.

They therefore resolved to, in conjunction and collaboration with the Regular Marshal, clampdown on all defaulters as is enshrined in the relevant traffic regulations of the country.

The Special Marshal unit members wondered why someone will choose to cover the number plates of his/her car while even the Governor of the state does not do so.

The people indulging in such act of disobedience to traffic regulation are therefore advised to stop immediately and uncover the number plates or will be made to face the full wrath of the law when apprehended.

The Special Marshal members also warned that from now on, its focus will be on covered number plates during the weekly patrol calling on the people to cooperate.

Deputy State Coordinator of the Special Marshall, Godwin Obioha who presided over the meeting, commended the members for their cooperation urging them to keep up the tempo in spite of the fact that it is a selfless service for the good of the society.
