Bauchi Police record 1148 criminal cases, arrest 2077 suspects in connection with cases

The Bauchi State Police Command from 6 July, 2023 to June 30, 2024, recorded a total of 1148 cases and arrested a total of 2,077 suspects in connection to various crimes committed within and outside the State.

The development is in the fight against all forms of crimes and criminality in the State with the sustained operations of community policing engagements and other crime-fighting strategies.

The Command has with vigor continued to execute its mandate and made remarkable achievements in the course of policing the state.

The fact was achieved as a result of strategies put in place under the superintendence and directives of the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad.

The Command, in the year 2023, recorded 100 cases of Armed Robbery while 212 suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, 136 cases of Culpable Homicide were recorded while 271 suspects were arrested in connection with cases.

Also, one case of attempted suicide was recorded and ine suspect was arrested, eighteen cases of grievous Hurt /Wounding were recorded and thirty-two suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, two cases of assault were recorded and two suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

Furthermore, 126 cases of rape/indecent assault were recorded while 157 suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, sixty-seven cases of kidnapping were recorded while 159 suspects were arrested in connection with the cases just as nine cases of unnatural offence were recorded and eleven suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

The Command also recorded twenty-five cases of theft/stealing and forty-eight suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, 163 cases of false pretense/cheating were recorded and 189 suspects were arrested in connection with the cases just as one case of forgery was recorded and one suspect was arrested in connection with the case.

Also, fourteen cases of receiving stolen properties were recorded and twenty-four suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, two cases of unlawful possession were recorded and four suspects were arrested in connection with the cases while eleven cases of mischief by fire were recorded and nineteen suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

Furthermore, three cases of forgery of currency were recorded and six suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, twenty-five cases of breach of public peace were recorded and fifty-six suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, seventeen cases of offence against fire arms were recorded and thirty-seven suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

It also recorded fifty-six cases of offence against person and ninety-one suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, twenty-eight cases of other offence against properties were recorded and forty-seven suspects were arrested in connection with the cases while Two cases of other not A/B were recorded and three suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

A total number of 806 cases were recorded and 1,365 suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

While in the present year 2024, the Command recorded 39 cases of armed robbery and 111 suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, 60 cases of culpable homicide were recorded and 153 suspects were arrested in connection with the cases and twelve cases of attempted culpable homicide were recorded and twenty-three suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

Also, four cases of grievous harm/wounding were recorded and eight suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, two cases of assault were recorded and two suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, fifty-eight cases of rape/indecent assault were recorded and ninety-one suspects were arrested in connection with the cases while seventeen cases of kidnapping were recorded and thirty-six suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

Five cases of unnatural offences were recorded and seven suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, nine cases of theft/other/cheating were recorded and nineteen suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, four cases of forgery were recorded and four suspects were arrested in connection with the cases just as two cases of receiving stolen properties were recorded and Four suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

Also, four cases of mischief by fire were recorded and thirty-six suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, Four cases of disturbance of public peace were recorded and twelve suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, four cases of offences against fire arms were recorded and eight suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

Furthermore, forty-two cases of other offence against persons were recorded and seventy-seven suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, twenty-two cases of other offences against properties were recorded and forty-eight suspects were arrested in connection with the cases while one case of other offences not A/B was recorded and one suspect was arrested in connection with the case.

A total number of 342 cases were recorded and 712 suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

Consequently, the Command during the course of operations, rescued 171 kidnapped victims from the kidnappers.

Furthermore, the Command was able to recover Thirty-seven AK47 rifles,
Sixteen fabricated AK 47 rifles, 317 live ammunition calibre of AK-47 riffles, 250 Dane guns, eight vehicles, 483 cow/sheep rusted, 2116 different types of knives, 3,419 different models of handheld phones.

On mop-up of proliferation firearms, the operation was carried out in various locations including Mansur/Magama, Yankari forest, Lere, Masussuka and Gamji, all in Alkaleri and Ningi local government areas which have been bedevilled by the activities of kidnappers and armed bandits in response to the Command to aggressively pacify the affected location from the activities of criminals.

Consequently, the following calibre of weapons were recovered during the operation, 377 rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition, Sixty-five rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, Four AK47 riffles, One (20) fabricated and cut-to-size guns, One Sterling Mk4 SMG riffle and Nine Empty magazines.

The Commissioner stated that, “It is pertinent to emphasize here, these aforementioned successes were made possible through information availed to the Police from members of the public, who as partners in progress with the Nigeria Police shared our desires and aspirations to enable a safe and secure environment for all residents in the State.”

He added that,”The Command has put in place, crime preventive measures which include visibility policing, community partnership, constant raids of black spots, regular foot and vehicular patrols, surveillance on buildings and vulnerable areas, stop and search, and intelligence-led on policing through partnership with sisters security agencies and other non-governmental organizations in order to nip in the bud, all forms of crime/criminals and their hideouts in the state.”

“Considering the geometric growth of security concerns through advanced technologies, the imperativeness of policing with counter-superior facilities and equipment has become beseeching to reverse the increasing ugly trends of crime,” he added.

Therefore, the Commissioner conclusively invited all to view and take security as the business of all, and support the Nigeria Police Force from any angle in our unrelating drive to make the citizens sleep with their two eyes closed as contained in a statement by the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili.
