Justice Aisha Ndume of Borno State High Court of Justice has disclosed that the elevation of Justice Fadawu Umaru from High Court of Justice, Borno State to Justice of the Court of Appeal is well deserved.
She made the statement at a luncheon organized for the celebrant by family and well wishers at the Sinoki Chinese Restaurant, at Central Business District, Abuja on Wednesday.
According to her, “Justice Fadawu Umaru’s elevation isn’t a surprise to us his colleagues and the Bar. As the reward for good, is good. We were appointed High Court Judges on the same day in Borno State Judiciary. I am at this luncheon as the representative of Borno State Judiciary where he has no enemy. Your new role is a pride to the people of Borno State. We are praying for God to protect you in your future endeavours.”
In his remarks, the chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA), Barrister Hamza Zannah said, “No lawyer appears before him unprepared, We know that he will continue being a just Judge. I want to remind him that, some people claims that he is rigid, but let me inform them that, just people have many enemies, because, most people detest the truth.”
In his remarks, Barrister F. Umaru, former chairman of NBA in Borno State said that his elevation is due to his hardwork, he once sat in court up to 9:30pm and walked home before the commencement of curfew in Maiduguri by 10pm.
“Many defendants preferred out-of-court settlement because he doesn’t tolerate unlawful acts by anybody and no matter how highly placed,” he said.
Chairman of the occasion, Surveyor Sani Muhammad Isa said that the celebrant is a complete gentleman, patient, hard-working and a just judge. We are praying for his continuous elevation.
The luncheon was attended by his family and dignitaries.
