Nasarawa State Government in collaboration with the Bank of Industry (BOI) has interfaced with youth and updated prospective beneficiaries of the N500 million Youth Revolving Fund Scheme’s procedure to enhance the process.

Habiba-Balarabe Suleiman, Director General and Focal Person, Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Agency (NSHCDA) stated this in Lafia at a town hall organised for beneficiaries.

The Director General said the town hall was organised to enable the Agency and BOI to educate them, particularly on the Bank loan procedures.

Habiba-Balarabe noted that the loan scheme overseen by the Agency under her watch has recorded tremendous progress as a commendable number of the youth have so far benefited from the scheme.

She said that the Nasarawa State Government and BOI had severally reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding on the N500 million Youth Revolving Fund Scheme to make the process easy for prospective beneficiaries.

“We had a lot of feedback, some positive and some negative, as a government that listens to its people, we decided to hold this town hall.

“So that we can share experiences and knowledge, and then give out new information on the financial regulations as it concerns the Youth Revolving Fund Scheme.

“We are happy that the town hall is a success, we had a valuable exchange and hopefully, moving forward we are going to have a better understanding and accelerated process for the beneficiaries,” she said.

She restated that the youth revolving fund that attracts only 5 percent interest payable by the beneficiary was an open and fair application process.

“One of the objectives of the scheme is to ensure that the most vulnerable person in Nasarawa State can access this fund.

“So you don’t have to know somebody to access this fund, about 95 percent of the applicants are people who just heard without any direct link with the Agency and they were able to apply and some of them have benefited,” she said.

Abdullahi Alhaji, State Manager, Nasarawa, said one of the reasons for organising the town hall was to spread awareness on the Bank processes and procedures that some of the applicants were not aware of.

“We have this session to let them know that the loan is still open and accessible, but they just have to meet up with documentation.
“It’s quite a process for them, they need this session to be able to sensitize them on our procedure,” he said.

Emmanuel Tarisu, a beneficiary and the owner of Emmynesco General Enterprise, who described the scheme as a non-political influenced loan said the N2 million he got from the scheme helped him to expand his business.
