By Ahmed Ali, Kafanchan

The Early Warning Early Response (EWER) Group in Jema’a Local Government Area paid a courtesy visit to the Kafanchan Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Yohannah Hassan, in his office.

EWER, an initiative of Equal Access International, aims to secure Nigerian communities through proactive measures.

During the visit, Abdullahi Bello, Chairman of EWER in Jema’a Local Government, briefed the new DPO on the group’s existing structure and activities.

He highlighted their efforts in securing communities through the “See, Say, and Do” approach, integral to the Early Warning Early Response mechanism.

Also present was the District Head of Fada in Jama’a Emirate, who doubles as the Programme Adviser of the Community Based Organisation (CBO).

He elaborated on the CBO’s initiatives in fostering peace, including providing psychological first aid to traumatized individuals and promoting the “If You See Something, Say Something” protocol to appropriate authorities.

In his response, DPO Hassan expressed his gratitude and joy over the visit and the group’s unwavering commitment to securing Jama’a communities.

He promised to provide maximum support to EWER in their mission to enhance community safety and combat criminal activities, especially among the youth.

DPO Hassan also addressed the corruption and moral decay within the communities, citing issues such as the rape of minors, robbery, and other immoral activities.

He emphasized the crucial role of community members in supporting the police by providing necessary information through the Early Warning Early Response mechanism.

He urged community members to report any suspicious activities and expose any criminal elements to ensure the safety and security of their neighborhoods.
