“Some of these programmes include the provision of free farming inputs, provision of investment loans at single-digit interest rates, students loans, and the recent Local Government autonomy which would restore the capacity, dignity and ability of Local Government Councils to carryout their constitutional responsibilities by providing basis and necessary services to the people at the grassroots.”
Mr. Mu’azu-Maifata, who is also the chairman of Lafia local government area of the state urged members of ALGON to exercise patience with the FG on the implementation of the Local Government autonomy which was recently approved by the supreme court, adding that the President was keen on ensuring that the 774 LGAs in the country function properly.
According to him, the association was aware of the sufferings and challenges of the masses, but noted that the call for protest would not yield the needed positive outcomes, instead, it could endanger the lives of the citizens.
