Anambra Governor Soludo

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state have been urged to drop Chief Emeka Orji as the candidate of the party for Onitsha South Local Government Area in the forthcoming Local Government election in the State.

The Onitsha South Integrity Forum (OSIF) in a statement in Onitsha said Orji is not fit to run for the Chairmanship of the Local Government on the platform of the Party in the coming election because of his past antecedents as the Care-taker Committee Chairman of the Local Government.
Chief Orji has been the Caretaker Committee of the Local Government since Prof Soludo assumed office about two years ago. In line with the guideline of the party Orji like many incumbent Local Government chairmen was picked ss the candidate of APGA in September 28 Local Government election in the State.

But the Integrity in a statement which was endorsed by its Chairman Chief Theophilus Nwokike accused Orji of destroying everything built by the people in the Local Government as if he owns the world as an interim chairman.

He also said Orji has no iota of human kindness in him, stating that he is not the type of person APGA and Governor Soludo should project in the forth coming Local Government election because he cannot adequately represent the interest of the party.

The group said that “Orji’s callous destructive actions across Onitsha South LGA was numerous and the affected victims which included cooperate bodies and individuals are still nursing their wounds inflicted to them by him till date”.

They added that many people’s means of livelihood were destroyed in the Local Government especially at Fegge where he pulled down and destroyed shops of poor residents ekeing out life.

“What did he achieve with that destruction? Did he improve the quality of life of the people and environment of Fegge? No, rather he threw a lot of people into untold hardship with his stint as the Transition Committee Chairman,” said the group.

Continuing the forum said: “Several other buildings and shops were destroyed by Orji without cause except to display naked power”.

The Intergrity Forum said if Orji is elected by September ending as the Local Government Chairman, he not add value to the lives of the residents of Onitsha South, rather would make life more unbearable for the people.

The group aalso accused Orji of being haughty, lacking in human relation and sympathy required of a leader who should occupy the office of an Executive Chairman of a Local Government.

“As an elected Chairman, said the Forum, Orji should be able to relate with all, the rich, the poor and needy from the grassroot but he has no such capacity and attributes.

“He is not accessible. He does not accommodate and too arrogant to be given the power of a Chairman. He will use it to further oppress people in Onitsha South Local Government. The Governor should drop him or APGA will fail in Onitsha South. There should be no sentiment,” it said.

The Unity Forum called for his immediate replacement with a popular and humane candidate who can win Second Tenure Prof Soludo in Onitsha South.

“We thank Governor Soludo for his ongoing massive transformation of the State, especially in Onitsha and his initiative to conduct local government election for the state.

“That shows that he is a real solution Governor. We are solidly behind him. But, what we are urging him is to drop Chief Orji and bring in a credible candidate for the people of Onitsha South”, said the group.
