Professor Dauda conferred Rising Sun Order for promoting ties between Japan, Nigeria

The Government of Japan has conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays on Professor Mohammed Dauda, President of the Nigeria-Japan Alumni Association (NAIJAA).
The announcement was contained in a press release emailed to Apex News Exclusive from the Embassy of Japan, Abuja, Nigeria. The conferment is for the 2024 Autumn Decorations on Foreign Nationals.
Professor Dauda is also the Patron of the Japanese Culture Club (JCC) at University of Abuja and the conferment is in recognition of his contributions to promoting friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and Nigeria.

Professor Dauda established the Nigeria-Japan Alumni Association (NAIJAA) in 2008 in recognizing the need for a platform to connect alumni and strengthen ties with Japan.
Under his leadership, NAIJAA organized cultural events such as Japanese movie screenings and orientation programs for students aspiring to study in Japan. He also served as a judge for the annual Japanese speech contest.

He also founded the Japanese Culture Club (JCC) in 2016 at University of Abuja, and provided guidance and resources to students passionate about promoting Japanese culture. His dedication played a pivotal role in establishing the Institute of Japanese Culture at the university in 2022.

Since 2022, Professor Dauda has served as the Director of Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (CEED)at University of Maiduguri, continuing to champion Japanese cultural exchange. In May 2024, he established the “NARUTO” Japanese Culture Club at the university, and significantly increased access to Japanese culture for Nigerians in northern Nigeria.
