Governor Mohammed restates Bauchi’s commitment to boost livestock sector

The Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed has re-echo the commitment of his administration towards revitalizing the livestock sector with a view to boosting the economy of the state and enhance food security.
The Governor was speaking when he received members of the Presidential Livestock Reform Implementation Committee led by its Co-Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega in Bauchi on Wednesday.
He said he is steadfast in his commitment to revitalizing the livestock sector as a strategic effort to enhance the economy of the state.
Mohammed emphasized Bauchi’s unique assets, including vast forests and a peaceful environment, which according to him, can significantly promote food security and create job opportunities if properly harnessed and monitored.
He said with this development his Government will establish a state-level committee on Livestock and vested them with the responsibility of developing a comprehensive blueprint for reforming the sector.
He assured the Presidential committee’s call for the optimal utilization of the Federal livestock facility in Sullubawa, Toro Local Government Area of the state,of his administration’s readiness to provide the necessary manpower and resources to ensure effective management of the facility.
The Governor commended President Bola Tinubu for creating the Ministry of Livestock for the benefit of Nigerians and appointing the caliber of Prof. Jega and his team as members of Presidential reform and implementation Committee.
He also expressed appreciation for the commendation accorded to him by the Co-Chairman of the committee, Prof. Attahiru Jega, who recognized his proactive approach in inviting the committee to Bauchi.
“His insights on stakeholder engagement and the economic potential of the livestock sector further underscore the importance of our shared mission,” the Governor said.
He said that the time is ripe to unlock the untapped potential of the livestock sector which he described as vital, saying Bauchi State will play its part in ensuring sustainable growth and national development.
Governor Mohammed said with Bauchi’s peaceful architecture and large forest, it is suitable to becoming a hub for livestock production and development.
Prof. Jega enjoined the stakeholders to work together towards reforming the sector.
