Anambra market leader splashes N5m worth of food items on indigents, less-privileged

The President of Ogbaru Main Market, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu, has shared food items worth N5 million to the indigent and less-privileged.
Ochiogu who spoke while distributing the food items which provided for the Indigent and less privileged traders within and outside the market.
Ochiogu told them that God is the ultimate giver of every good thing including wealth and prosperity.
He admonished them not to lament over their condition but should bear with equanimity and always looking
unto God almighty, who Ochiogu said is more than able to change their situation.
The market leader explained the essence of distributing the food items was to make them happy as well as have something to eat this season.
Earlier at the event which was held at the Market prayer arena the Parish Priest of Immaculate Heart Parish, Fegge, Onitsha, Very Rev. Fr. Sampson Ogbuebune dwelt extensively on the Christmas festival and its importance, stressing that Christmas is a period of joy.
The priest noted that it is also a period Ndigbo gather in their different families celebrate their achievements in the past one year.
He said it was a period families meet to discuss vital issues bothering them,saying that Igbos are known for communal life.
The clergy emphasized the importance of people visiting home in every Christmas festivity because it creates stronger bond of relationshp, advising them to refrain from living isolated life as well as suspecting their kinsmen of being diabolical.
“Reach out to your kinsmen with passion. Stop hiding yourself from your kinsmen. Make payments for the development of your village and mingle with your relations. So, Christmas is a time of joy and happiness,” Fr. Sampson said.
He commended the initiatives of Chief Ochiogu and his lieutenants for remembering the poor and vulnerable especially in this yuletide and present global economic quagmire.
Distributing the food materials to the invited traders who are not capable to help themselves and those who their businesses have collapsed, Chief Ochiogu reminded them that God is the ultimate giver of wealth and prosperity
He asserted that they should not regret their condition but accept it with passion and look unto God almighty who he said is capable of changing situation.
Speaking with newsmen shortly, Chief Ochiogu disclosed that the essence of distributing the food items to the less privileged ones was to make them feel happy and have something to eat in the Christmas festival.
In his speech the Assistant Secretary of the Market, Chief Bucknor Agu, hinted that stakeholders, Patrons, men and women of good will raised the funds with which they used to buy the food materials for they distributed.
He said some people contributed cash while others brought food items just as he said that Chief Ochiogu contributed major part of food items, saying that the gesture was to touch lives of the poor and indigents especially in this Christmas celebration and equally to support the good governance of Prof.Charles Soludo to Ndi Anambra.
Chief Agu noted that Chief Ochiogu has been demonstrating excellent leadership style since his inception as the Presidentl of Ogbaru Main Market, stating that apart from donating greater part of food materials for the poor, he equally provided three extra heavy duty fire extinguisher for the Market.
“We are happy in this Market because peace has fully been restored because Chief Ochiogu is a talented leader and man of peace. He has united all the faction group of which all the oppositions have queued up in his administration,” Agu said.
Some of the food items distributed included tubers of yams, rice, tomatoes, onions, noodles and vegetable oil amongst others.
