Senator Lalong, kinsmen honoured with traditional titles

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong and some of his kinsmen have been honoured with various traditional titles by the Pol Traditional Council in N’yak Chiefdom of Shendam Local Government of Plateau State.

At the traditional outing ceremony in the Senator’s home town, the Long Gamai of Gamailand HRH Miskoom Martin Shaldas III was represented by the Madakin Shendam who performed the conferment on the awardees alongside the paramount ruler of N’yak Chiefdom Miskoom Bootna’an B. Bako II.

Senator Lalong was bestowed with the title of Kurgwui for his passion and support to the N’yak Chiefdom and Gamailand at large.

He was acknowledged for standing firm and carrying out various developmental projects, empowerment initiatives that have benefited the community and elevated its status.

Lalong alongside other awardees were also commended for their contributions to the revival and promotion of the culture and traditions of the Gamai people as well as serving the N’yak Chiefdom with their resources, passion and connections.

While responding on behalf of the awardees, Senator Lalong appreciated the Long Pol and members of the N’yak Traditional Council for considering them for the honour.

He expressed determination to continue to serve the people of the Chiefdom and use every opportunity available to him to attract development.

Lalong used the opportunity to call on the people of the Chiefdom to remain united, peaceful and work towards enhancing the fortunes of the community.

Senator Lalong later attended the 27th edition of Bit Ngoottugut, the annual cultural festival organised by the cultural Development Association.

He admonished the people to continue to sustain the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the land that are necessary for social cohesion, peace and prosperity.
