Senator Lalong preaches peace, unity as Jasawa honours members

A former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Lalong has admonished the Jasawa Development Association to continue to work towards promoting peace and unity which are veritable tools for progress.
Senator Lalong gave the charge while speaking at the merit award ceremony in recognition of some illustrious sons of the Jasawa community in Jos.
He said the significance of this event goes beyond the recognition of some outstanding sons and daughters, as it highlights the importance of coming together for peace, development and empowerment.
He said ” I recall with nostalgia the fraternal relationship that existed between your community and the Rescue Administration which I had the privilege to lead from 2015 to 2023. Indeed you demonstrated that you are partners in progress in the Plateau project by leveraging on your community platforms which enabled us to carry out some projects that impacted the people”.
Lalong disclosed that he still enjoys the friendship and collaboration with the Jasawa Community towards building a greater Plateau and Nigeria that offers opportunities for all people irrespective of their faith, ethnicity and political affiliations.
He thanked them for their support for peace, unity, reconciliation and progress during his tenure which assisted to remove major instigators of conflict and violence.
“Today, our capital is no longer carrying the burden of negative perception of insecurity, crises and instability. Business is thriving and more people are going about their legitimate endeavours without apprehension” he said.
Chairman of the occasion and former Governor of Bauchi State Adamu Muazu said the event was an opportunity for the Jasawa community to come together and unite towards achieving greater results.
He commended Senator Lalong for working with the Jasawa Community particularly in the area of peace and unity which marked the high points of his administration.
President of the Jasawa Development Association Alhaji Hassan Huseni said the event was put together to honour five outstanding personalities who have contributed immensely to the uplifmemt of the lives of the people. They include Rt. Hon. Idris Wase, Prof. Khalid Abubakar, Alhaji Salisu Umar, Alh Hassan Sallau and
Alh Murtala Laushi.
Afterwards, Senator Lalong visited the residence of Alh Garba Alkali (Turakin Jos) to condole with him over the loss of his son, Babangida.
He also visited the residence of Rt. Hon. Hassan Baba to commiserate with him over the death of his wife Aisha.
The Senator also visited the office of his former Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Alhaji Idris Kwando.
