Importance of religious tolerance on campus stressed

Following avalanche of faith based groups in many Nigerian universities, Professor of Divinity in the Pan African Christian Theological University, Ande Ladan Danbaki has highlighted the need for religious tolerance to promote unity on University campuses in Nigeria. 

He has appealed to faith-based groups to be cautious and sensitive over their preachments and activities in order to maintain peace and tolerance amongst the University communities. 

He spoke yesterday when a delegation of Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars (ABAS), an arm of a spiritual organisation,  Brothrrhood of the Cross snd Star, visited the University of Abuja, and were received by Dr. Idoko Sunday Idoko, the Dean of Students Affairs.

Stressing on need for love and forgiveness, Danbaki stated that when the University environment is peaceful, learning will become lovable, conducive and endearing amongst the students and lecturers.

An official of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Bishop Samuel Eyo emphasized the importance of fostering moral values, resharpening the attitude of young scholars, and integrity among youths. 

He took time to explain what is and the mission of BCS.  He requested for the formal registration of ABAS to function effectively on the University of Abuja campus.

According to him, the university will then feel the real impact of peace and attendant benefits, adding that the Father is the Custodian of peace and other virtues. 

President of the group, Emmanuel Brendan, also stressed the need to foster collaboration with the University of Abuja community.

He assured that they will submit formal application for registration, and would function according to their constitution and rules of the University. 

Expressing gratitude for the visit and enthusiasm for future collaboration, Dr Idoko hailed their mission of promoting peace and religious tolerance on campus and elsewhere.

He assured the delegation that he and other officials will extend due supports and cooperation to ABAS to enable them function well in the school.
