Senator Lalong attends funeral of childhood friend, Prof. Haruna

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong has described the late Prof. Bonaventure Nkup Haruna, a lecturer in Political Science at the University of Jos as a man of integrity and a mentor who invested his life in raising others.
Speaking at the funeral Mass for the deceased in his hometown of Demshin, Shendam Local Government, Lalong said the late Professor demonstrated commitment and passion in all activities he engaged in during his sojourn on earth.
He said the deceased was an intellectual who distinguished himself in teaching and research as well as managing offices he was saddled with overseeing at the University of Jos and elsewhere.
Senator Lalong recalled with nostalgia that he shared close relationship with the late Professor Bonaventure from childhood as they were at the same primary school. He described him as one who was kind and a generous personality that touched the lives of many who came in contact with him.
He prayed God to grant his family, the University of Jos community, people of Demshin and Gamailand comfort as well as give his soul eternal rest.
In a Homily, the officiating Priest said the death of Prof Bonaventure is yet another opportunity for all people to reflect on the final destination which is beyond the struggles, competition, failures and achievements in this world.
He emphasized the need to live and love God by doing his will and making humanity recognise his glory.
Vice Chancellor University of Jos Prof. Ishaya Tanko represented at the funeral by Prof. Rahila Gowon said the deceased distinguished himself and fulfilled his calling at the University with excellence.
In various tributes, members of the University of Jos community who worked closely with him described him as a man of peace, truth and sincerity.
Miskoom Cammelius Tsemwan who spoke on behalf of the family appreciated the sympathisers for their words of comfort, prayers and goodwill.
His remains was later laid to rest at the family burial site.
