Nasarawa State Socio-political Organisation, under the umbrella of Nasarawa Patriotic Youths Alliance (NAPYA), has called on the former National Coordinator of Tinubu/ Shettima Independent Campaign Council, Dr Silas Agara to join the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship race.

The call is contained in a statement signed by the Nasarawa West Senatorial District Local Government Areas Coordinators;
Mr Adamu Bashir and Comrade Kefas Danladi, and made available to newsmen in Lafia.

According to the statement, the call becomes necessary given Agara’s impressive track record in the leadership space – spanning more than two decades of a remarkable people-oriented leadership in Nasarawa state.

The statement highlighted Agara’s track record as an astute administrator who contributed significantly to the successes of various administrations in Nasarawa State between 2003 and 2019.

The youth group said it believed Agara’s political ideology, impressive credentials, and capacity to engender good governance and unite the people of the state, hence the call to join the race for the 2027 governorship.

“Agara’s track record as an astute administrator is evident in his significant contributions to the successes of various administrations in Nasarawa State.

“Having served as Commissioner, Special Adviser, and Deputy Governor under Governor Abdullahi Adamu( 2003-2007), Aliyu Akwe Doma(2007-2009), and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura (2011-2019),” the statement said.

“His tenure as Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) in charge of Nasarawa State enhanced the state’s demographic data.

“Agara’s leadership at the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) brought about positive reforms, providing modern skills and jobs for thousands of Nigerian youths through the Renewed Hope youth empowerment initiative.

“He also facilitated federal government appointments for several indigene of Nasarawa State, restoring hope and confidence for those who laboured for the party, the All Progressive Congress APC during the 2023 general elections,” they said.

The statement said Agara who is also presently serving as Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) championed remarkable youth empowerment initiatives, providing economic empowerment, and facilitating their higher education.

“His sponsorship of youths for international media training in China in November 2024 is a testament to his commitment to the development of the state.
