Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has said that the state government will give supports to the Catholic Church to build its seminary and other quarters.

He assured that he will further donate the sum of N100 million to help complete the ongoing Archbishop’s residence in Calabar to enable the Archbishop of Calabar Diocess, Joseph Ekuwem move in soon.

Otu spoke when he visited the Sacred Heart Cathedral of the  Catholic Church on Egerton Street Calabar yesterday to identify with them.

Recall that the
church seminary at Mfamosing area in Akamkpa LGA was recently destroyed by windstorm alongside valuable properties.

The governor said his intervention was in keeping with his administration’s People First mantra, adding that  he

will continue to make the people the center piece of government’s policies and development.

Ekuwem represented by Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Calabar, Christopher Naseri thanked the government for the gestures.

He charged people and residents of the state to unite, forgive themselves, pray for government and always speak with one voice.

He said even in the face of present economic challenges, citizens should be courageous, love one another and submit to God’s will.
