Police restrict partial movement ahead of President Tinubu’s visit to Nasarawa

The operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa State command has announced traffic diversion and partial movement restrictions within Lafia metropolis and its environs, ahead of the President Bola Tinubu’s visit to State on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Our correspondent reports that the restrictions will commence from Tuesday, June 24, 2025 to tomorrow Wednesday, June 25, 2025 as part of drastic measures to checkmate security before, during and after the official visit of the President Tinubu.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel and made obtained by our correspondent in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital on Tuesday.
According to the statement, “In view of the scheduled visit of the President to Nasarawa State, the Nasarawa State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that there will be a diversion of traffic and partial restriction of movement in Lafia, the state capital, from 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
“As part of the security measures put in place: Vehicles coming into Lafia from the Akwanga axis will be diverted at Mechanic Village, Azuba to pass through the bypass, Akurba, Mararaba Akunza, and then connect to the Makurdi Road.
“Vehicles coming from Makurdi will be diverted at Bukan Kwato–Mararaba Akunza to link Akurba and Azuba.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro-Mohammed psc, mnips, assures members of the public that adequate security has been deployed to safeguard commuters along all alternative routes.
“He appeals for the understanding and cooperation of the general public, emphasising that these temporary measures are not intended to cause inconvenience but are necessary to ensure a safe, smooth, and successful presidential visit to Nasarawa State.
“The Command regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the support of residents and motorists during this period.”
Meanwhile, security has been beefed off in and around Lafia, the capital city of Nasarawa state to avert any breakdown of law and order.
Our correspondent who went round the state, however, observed that both the Nigeria army, 22 Quick Response of the Nigeria Air Force, Nasarawa state command, the Department of State Security Service ((DSSS), and the Nigeria Police Force Nasarawa State command were seen stationed at the strategic positions with the aim of maintaining law and order in case if the should be any form of crimes and criminality in the state.
Others security operatives sighted by our correspondent are the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to control any form of traffic congestion during and after the presidential visit to Nasarawa State.
Also, Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) and National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), were seen at Lafia square, U A C road along Lafia Jos and Makurdi roads to control the restriction of movement.
