APC Anambra South Senatorial Primary: Ikemba Front lauds Azuka Okwuosa as he emerges winner flagship political support structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Ikemba Front, has felicitated with the winner of the party’s Anambra South Senatorial primary election, Sir Azuka Okwuosa.
In a statement endorsed by the National Coordinator of Ikemba Front, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, the group said Okwuosa’s emergence was as a true reflection of the wishes of the people of Anambra South Senatorial Zone.
The support group which lauded the transparent nature of the primary said that APC has demonstrated its readiness to retain the seat left by its former member, Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, by electing Sir Azuka Okwuosa from old Nnewi political bloc as its candidate.
Ikemba Front commending the emergence of Okwuosa, described him: “as a true party man, a nationalist and one who will consolidate the efforts of late Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah”.
They called for unity of purpose as according to them, APC was poised to retaining the Anambra South Senatorial seat.
The APC primary election was for the August 16 senatorial bye-election for Anambra South Senatorial Zone.
The contest was between Sir Okwuosa, a former chairman of old Nnewi Local Government Area, a former Commissioner for works and transport in the state and Barr. Dr. Obinna Uzor, an accomplished business man and an industrialist.
The Anambra South Senatorial bye-election is to replace late Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, who passed on in July last year.
Sir Okwuosa pulled a total of 470 votes to defeat Barr. Dr. Obinna Uzor, who got 57 votes to clinch the ticket of the party with 22 votes declared invalid.
A total of 594 delegates from all the seven Local Government Areas of the zone participated in the primary election as stated by Chief Henry Ikoh, the Chairman of the Seven-member APC Congress Committee for the Anambra South Senatorial primary election.
