Katsina Governor Radda congratulates AVM Kaita on his appointment as Chairman, Governing Council, Bayero University, Kano

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has extended his congratulations to Air Vice Marshal Saddiq Isma’il Kaita (Rtd) on his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu as the Chairman, Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano.

Governor Radda described the appointment as well-deserved and a clear recognition of AVM Kaita illustrious record of national service, both in the Nigerian Air Force and in public educational governance. The Governor noted that AVM Kaita wealth of experience, exceptional discipline, and deep understanding of institutional transformation will undoubtedly add great value to the vision and progress of Bayero University.

The Governor emphasized that, “AVM Saddiq Kaita has always been a shining example of professionalism and patriotism. His contributions to the Nigerian Air Force, particularly in training, innovation, and leadership, speak volumes. His reappointment to yet another strategic academic institution is a reaffirmation of his proven capacity to deliver excellence.”

AVM Kaita, a native of Katsina Local Government Area, previously served as Director of Strategy at the Defence Headquarters and as Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation. He was also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Abuja, where he left a legacy of focused leadership and reform.

Over the course of his military career, AVM Kaita initiated key training reforms, reviewed critical manuals, and helped shape the modernization of the Nigerian Air Force. He also served in the Presidential Air Fleet as a line pilot, Fleet Training Officer, and Commander of the 209 Executive Airlift Group, amassing over 4,500 flight hours across several high-capacity aircraft.

The Governor stressed that such appointments are a testament to the quality of leaders Katsina State continues to produce. Leaders whose competence and integrity are widely acknowledged. He urged AVM Kaita to bring the same vigor and sense of purpose to his new role as he has demonstrated throughout his career.

Governor Radda also used the opportunity to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his foresight in appointing a seasoned professional Air Force officer like AVM Kaita to such an important national assignment. He noted that Katsina State remains proud of her sons and daughters who are making meaningful contributions at the national level.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of Katsina State, I heartily congratulate you this illustrious son of our land. Your appointment bring pride to our people and great promise to the university you now serve. We pray for your success as you undertake these national assignments in service to our great country,” the Governor concluded.
