How Anambra killer vigilante murdered defenceless citizens in Anambra, Imo communities since 2015 –Intersociety
The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), have alleged that Ndikeokwu-Uli vigilante group backed by billionaires and some security personnel colluded to unleash terror on the communities and people of Amorka and Amampulu in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State and Egbuoma in Oguata and Ohakpu in Oru West in Imo State killing about 20 defenceless citizens.
In a letter to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Prince Ken Emekayi, which was also copied to the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ikioye Orutugu, the group said,no fewer than another thirty defenceless indigenes of Egbuoma and Uli were killed since 2022.
In the statement signed by the chairman of Board of Trusty (BoT), Nze Emeka Umesgbalasi, dozens of persons were also abducted and tortured, while scores were compelled to pay millions of naira as ransom.
Intersociety also alleged that many others disappeared on the false labelling as members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) or its affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN) or Unknown Gun Men (UGM), which the rights group alleged was a pretext used to kill, disappear more than 20,000 citizens in South East in the last ten years.
The group said it was through their efforts that these communities of Egbuoma, Ohakpu and other communities were liberated from the dreaded Uli vigilante’s reign of terror and rescued two citizens alive from 302 Artillery Barrack, Onitsha.
Four others, said Intersociety, were rescued by Anambra State vigilante outfit, Agunechemba during a recent raid of the Uli vigilante’s terror camp following their petition.
“We are thanking Agunechemba security outfit for good efforts made so far and we strongly demanding for total sanitization of the dreaded group’s camps and their likes across Anambra State as well as continuation of manhunt for the killer-operatives until they are captured, disarmed, blacklisted, dismissed and barred from further security engagements and tried for culpable murders and allied
atrocities, crimes and identification of the affected victims and payment of adequate compensations to them to avoid revenge, backlash and lawsuits” said the rights group.
