NADF partners UNITAR to enhance skills in agribusiness, sustainable value-chain development

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) is set to strengthen its institutional capacity through a new strategic partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

This was disclosed in Abuja by NADF’s Executive Secretary, Mohammed A. Ibrahim during a courtesy visit in his office by Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto, Director of UNITAR’s Division for Prosperity, and Sadiq Rabiu, Special Assistant to the President on Capacity Development.

According to him, “During the meeting, we explored areas of collaboration and focused on aligning efforts under the ‘Prosperous Futures Initiative,’ a programme designed to enhance skills in agri-business and sustainable value-chain development.

“Nigeria through the NADF welcomed the partnership, saying it will add significant value to fulfilling the Fund’s mandate of transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector,” said Mohammed A. Ibrahim.

Both UNITAR’s Director, Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto, Director of UNITAR’s Division for Prosperity, and Sadiq Rabiu, Special Assistant to the President on Capacity Development said the meeting was geared towards agricultural growth and development.

It could be recalled that, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) provides innovative learning solutions to individuals, organizations and institutions to enhance global decision-making and support country-level action for shaping a better future.

UNITAR started its operation in 1965 to train and equip young diplomats from newly-independent UN Member States with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate through the diplomatic environment.
