A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, has expressed confidence that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo will be overwhelmingly re-elected in the forthcoming November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.

In an interview, Obigwe declared that no Governor in the history of the State has matched Soludo’s achievements within three years in office, insisting that his re-election “is well-deserved and a settled matter.”

“Soludo has touched every sector from agriculture and infrastructure to education and healthcare,” Obigwe said. “While others are campaigning, he is still commissioning projects. He is on a missionary journey of transforming Anambra.”

He highlighted several of Soludo’s projects, including the ongoing Enugu-Otu Aguleri road, new hospitals in riverine communities, improved road access to Anambra West, and the transformation of Okpoko once regarded as the state’s largest slum into a more developed community with roads, streetlights, and clean water.

Obigwe also praised the governor for introducing free antenatal and maternal care, as well as free public education.

Addressing concerns about security, the APGA media chief maintained that the situation has improved significantly since Soludo assumed office.

“It was once impossible to hold elections in places like Ihiala and Nnewi South, but now life has returned there,” he noted, crediting the Operation Udo ga Achi security initiative and joint operations of security agencies for restoring peace.

On calls to disband government task forces such as the Ocha Brigade, Obigwe opposed the idea, describing their role as crucial to maintaining order despite isolated cases of misconduct.

“One incident should not erase the positive impact they’ve had. The government never condones excesses and takes corrective action when necessary,” he said.

Obigwe dismissed claims by opposition candidates, particularly the APC flagbearer, that they could outperform Soludo.

“There is no real opponent in this election. It will be an affirmation for Soludo,” he declared. “The APC candidate has a poor record in previous elections. Anambra people know better.”

He also defended Soludo against accusations of using harsh language, stating that the governor merely questions the competence of his rivals based on their past records.

Reacting to allegations of monetising the campaign, Obigwe explained that Soludo only introduced motivational rewards for party wards based on performance, not vote-buying.

“The Electoral Act criminalises vote-buying, not post-election rewards. The opposition is twisting facts to score cheap points,” he argued.

He further expressed confidence that the forthcoming election would be peaceful, urging voters to remain alert and protect their votes.

“Those plotting violence are habitual riggers, but they will fail again. Our supporters should vote and ensure results are declared before leaving the polling units,” he advised.

Obigwe concluded that Soludo’s “visible achievements and integrity” have already secured the people’s mandate ahead of the poll.
