FCT sports department appoints Dr. Ahmadu chairlady gymnastics association caretaker committee

The FCT Sports Department, under the Social Development Secretariat have appointed Dr. Jumai Ahmadu as Chairlady to run a caretaker committee of the FCT Gymnastics Association for the next seven months.

A letter of Dr. Jumai Ahmadu’s engagement, signed by the FCT Director of Sports, Luka Istifanus, stated that it will be recalled that the Board of FCT Sports Associations were dissolved since October 2023.

“While waiting for the approval of the FCT Minister for the reconstitution and inauguration of the next Board, a Caretaker Committee is now constituted to run the affairs of the various associations for a term of seven months, in order not to create any vacuum.

“The management of the FCT Sports Department and Sports Development Secretariat have found you worthy to serve in this capacity from 1st October, 2025 to 31st April, 2026.

Furthermore, the engagement letter stated that “the Caretaker Board is at liberty to co-opt two more members whose services might be required for the development of sports in the FCT”.

The Sports Director said the department is hoping that the FCT Minister will grant approval for the reconstitution of the usual four years in office.
