NCDC MD, Dr. Tsenyil congratulates professor Sharubutu on appointment as African Agricultural Technology Foundation chairman

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, extends warm congratulations to Prof. Garba Sharubutu on his appointment as the Chairman, African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF).

Dr. Tsenyil describes the appointment of Prof. Sharubutu—an accomplished academic, infectious disease expert, and former Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN)—as a remarkable recognition of his decades of unwavering dedication to agricultural research, policy innovation, and rural development both in Nigeria and across Africa.

He notes that the elevation of Prof. Sharubutu to this strategic continental leadership role comes at a time when Africa is in urgent need of enhanced agricultural technology adoption, value-chain development, and sustainable strategies to combat food insecurity.

Tsenyil also acknowledges that the track record of achievements recorded by Prof. Sharubutu as Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria and Provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology make him a well sought after expert at the world stage.

The NCDC Chief Executive further highlights that the North Central Development Commission places agriculture at the heart of its development agenda, with ongoing and planned interventions aimed at boosting food production capacity, supporting agro-processing and value addition, expanding access to agricultural technology, enhancing farmer empowerment, and generating employment opportunities for people across the North Central region.

He expresses optimism that the NCDC and AATF will explore mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly in areas of seed system development, climate-resilient farming, livestock improvement, disease control, and community-level capacity building.

Dr. Tsenyil commends Prof. Sharubutu for continually bringing honour to Plateau State and Nigeria, and prays for God’s wisdom and grace for him in this new responsibility.
